Changing the Date
How to Change the Date on the Waterfowl Map
FowlTracker lets you explore historical Waterfowl Roosting Area maps to track bird movement patterns over time. You can change the date to view where ducks and geese were roosting on any given day during the season.
Using the Date Picker
The date picker allows you to select any date within the available range to see where waterfowl were roosting that morning.
- Step 1: Locate the date picker in the top-left corner of the map.
- Step 2: Click on the calendar icon or the date field.
- Step 3: Select a date between November 1 and March 31.
- Step 4: The map will update automatically to show estimated roosting areas for that date.
What Date Ranges Can I Select?
You can select any date from November 1 to March 31 of each hunting season. Historical roosting data is available starting from November 1, 2022.
Why Can't I Select Today's Date?
Roosting maps are generated each morning using data from the previous day. For example, if today is Saturday, the latest map will show where birds roosted on Friday morning. New maps are typically available by noon Pacific Time.
How Can I Use Historical Data?
Reviewing past roosting patterns can help you spot trends, identify reliable roosts, and plan smarter hunts.
- Compare how birds respond to different weather events like wind, cold fronts, or rain.
- Track migration timing and peak bird movement in your flyway.
- Spot roosts that are used repeatedly—ideal areas to monitor for future hunts.
The more you study historical waterfowl activity, the more you’ll understand where, when, and why birds use certain areas—giving you a big edge in the field.
