Identify species from a photo.

Bird ID identifies the waterfowl in a photograph. Upload a picture and it returns the species it can see, with no hunt entry required — useful for the bird in the bag you cannot place, or a bird you photographed and did not shoot.

Identifying a bird

  • Open Bird ID from the top nav.
  • Choose Upload New Image and pick a photo.
  • The analysis runs in the background — the result appears against the image when it is done, so you can carry on using the app while it works.

From a hunt entry

Photos attached to a hunt entry are identified the same way automatically, and those results show up here alongside your standalone uploads.

Getting a good result

  • Fill the frame with the bird where you can.
  • Plumage detail matters more than resolution — wing, head and speculum are what distinguish species.
  • Several birds in one photo is fine; each identified species is listed.

Identification is a best effort from the photograph and can be wrong, particularly on hens, juveniles and hybrids. Confirm anything that matters for bag limits or regulations yourself.
